Nokia is back with the successor of the Nokia 808 PureView which is the Nokia Lumia 1020. Yes, this is the continuous efforts to redefine photography on a smartphone. This is the first smartphone with a huge 41MP image sensor and optical stabilization. The OIS and a proper flash garnished with modern-looking smartphone OS makes it just fabulous.
Nokia gave a big shot at the presentation – two PhDs, that were took a place on the creation of the Lumia 1020. The team have completely redesign the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on this Lumia 1020 to accommodate the far larger sensor. This new family of Lumia uses the biggest Back-side illuminated (BSI) sensor and 6 lens optic from Carl Zeiss.
Nokia Lumia 1020 is certainly about photography, not just taking a photo but also redefine the interaction between applications and camera. The star apps, was a Pro camera lens, that makes you make the best use of the camera. The prominent camera, appears on the back of this Lumia 1020, but it doesn’t make this device to be a huge one. Actually, this Lumia 1020 is 0.3mm thinner than it’s older brother Lumia 920 with the same height and width. And one more thing, it’s also lighter by 27g than the Lumia 920.
Well then, let’s continue to the camera, the most incredible thing on this Lumia 1020. The camera on the back is slighter than the Nokia 808 PureView, it makes this Lumia 1020 even better than the Nokia 808 PureView on the design. The camera formed in a black circle that houses the lens, mechanical shutter, xenon flash, and a LED light.
Even though Nokia Lumia 1020 doesn’t use the same image sensor as the Nokia 808 PureView, the new 41MP sensor uses the BSI which improves light sensitivity. The sensor can snap 34MP images in 16:9 mode and 38MP images in 4:3 mode. Besides, it also has the two-position shutter key that will brings you a good experience of pothography.
For the supports Nokia add their exclusive twist, including the Nokia Glance Screen, augmented reality apps based on HERE, and HERE+ worldwide navigation. The next interesting thing is the Pro Camera lens. It could snap two photos at once, one full resolution and one 5MP photo. The 5MP photo can be zoom in up to 3x without decreasing the image quality.
This Lumia 1020 also uses the OIS and oversampling on the video recording. During video capture you can zoom up to 4x in 1080p and 6x in 720p resolution. For the audio things, Nokia puts two mics on the top, and on the bottom with the Rich Audio Recording for distortion-free sound recording in loud environments. And about the speed of recording? Yes, 30fps of course.
And another cool feature, is the new Nokia Imaging SDK that will let apps make a full use of the Nokia Lumia 1020′s camera and provides 50 effects, filters and enhancements which is just make the apss even more efficient.
Yes, it’s a great one I think. So wanna give it a try???
